Earlier on, Mesut Ozil’s agent, Ekot Sogut, had disclosed how one of his clients, a former teammate of Christian Atsu’s at Hatayspor, survived the horrific earthquake that struck Turkey.
The agent claims that even though his client and the Ghanaian footballer shared an apartment, they managed to escape when the building collapsed
“I actually had a player with Atsu in the same team and he was in the same building, and he got out by himself. He was lucky because he was on the fifth floor and the building collapsed to the other side, not where he was,” Sogut stated, to AFTV media.
The agent explained his player was still awake at 4am when the tremors hit Turkey. “He played the night before after a long time and he thanks God had his phone in his hands and he used the light on his phone. It took him half an hour to 45 minutes to come out.”
