Almost everybody hates Monday mornings but some employees hate every other day at work. They might wake up early every morning, yet the mere thought of going to work in a particular environment is enough to mess up their mood. Dragging their feet from the room and back, wearing a grumpy face till they are done with their preparations is a daily ritual, as I would put it. And it’s not as though they have an alternative, considering their position in the organisation they work in. They need that money so they got to swallow that discontent.

The working environments we find ourselves in play a major role in our outputs. Once you find yourself in a conducive environment with extra benefits, good staff relations, and excellent communication, your attitude towards work is way different compared to when you are placed in a discomforting working environment surrounded by everything you so detest. The motivation to do an impressive job in such an environment is simply absent.

Silent Battles
This gets worse when work colleagues show unmotivating behaviours among themselves. Some colleagues tend to hoard information meant for the general well-being of everyone, and this lack of proper communication or information can be frustrating sometimes; especially when it makes you look clueless at every point. It makes one feel as though their presence isn’t appreciated.
Favouritism, in a way, is healthy since it pushes others to work hard and gain the same benefits or more from their employer but it gets ugly when it becomes intense. Some employers openly treat their favourites very well while sidelining other staff. When this occurs, the sidelined employees find no joy coming to the workplace since they will only be spited with the public display of affection shown to the favourites at the workplace. Who wants to see that every day anyway?

Big Investments with Small Returns
Aside from sidelining, when one works vigorously and the cash, together with other benefits received at the end of the day or month doesn’t match that vigour, they will of course, not have any motivation to wake up and smile at the thought of going to work.
Nonetheless, employees are expected to keep up good ethics at their workplaces. Some are able to overcome the negatives in their environment and be effective whereas others leap off the boat and sink. Do not assume no one is watching! Walls have ears, shoes have tongues and obviously, people have eyes.
