Chelsea has made one more effort to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with the transfer window only having around a week left to run its course.
In these final weeks of the transfer window, the Premier League powerhouses have made the Barcelona attacker one of their top targets as they attempt to strengthen their goal-scoring alternatives.
Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner had to leave Chelsea earlier this summer, and as a result, Thomas Tuchel was left without the services of a suitable number nine.
Chelsea is planning to sign Aubameyang in an effort to remedy the problem. The Gabonese international has already worked with Tuchel, even scoring 79 goals in 95 games when playing for Borussia Dortmund under the German mastermind.
Chelsea hasn’t had much luck thus far trying to sign Aubameyang, though. Additionally, the Blues have submitted their final bid for the Barça forward, worth roughly €20 million, according to Diario SPORT.
In comparison to the former summer offer, this one is significantly better. Barcelona already views the plan favourably, although it is anticipated that they will want a higher price. With the sale, the Catalans want to earn about €30 million.
Barcelona considers the sale of Aubameyang to be crucial in its effort to sign Jules Kounde given that Memphis Depay’s projected transfer to Juventus has recently stalled.
Even if Barcelona accepts Chelsea’s current offer, the Catalans would still have more than enough money thanks to the sale of Aubameyang. The Catalans need to raise about €18 million for the registration.
It will be interesting to see how this saga plays out over the next several days, though, as the club hopes to squeeze out a little more.
