Award-winning Nigerian artist, Davido and Chioma, his partner, are once again making headlines for the right reasons.
After the passing of their son Ifeanyi, the famous couple recently made their first public appearance during the singer’s uncle Ademola Adeleke’s inauguration as governor of Osun state.
Fans immediately noticed the wedding rings on Davido and Chioma’s fingers when new official images from the occasion were posted online.
Chioma was photographed beside Davido and a few of her in-laws from the Adeleke family.
Many Nigerians expressed their happiness for the couple not long after the images started to circulate on social media. Many people sent them prayers and well wishes, and some even speculated that Chioma might be pregnant already.
Since Davido and Chioma made their first public appearance in Osun State on Sunday for the installation of the state’s sixth elected governor, Ademola Adeleke, tongues have been buzzing.
The explanation wasn’t implausible. Fans observed the couple wearing wedding bands, which suggests that they were wed privately and away from prying eyes.
Recall that since after the death of their three-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, on October 31, 2022, both David and Chioma had not been seen in public throughout the mourning period until last Sunday, November 27, 2022 in Osogbo, Osun State capital city.
Reports gathered that the duo was said to have tied the nuptial knot after the sudden demise of their son.
According to reports, Davido paid the bride price of Chioma in order for their deceased son to be traditionally recognised as the son of the Nigerian musician.
“If he doesn’t marry her. The baby boy won’t be buried as an Adeleke. He will belong to Chioma’s family and will be buried as a Rowland instead. Remember Chioma is Igbo, Davido is Yoruba. So he had to pay her bride price to be able to claim the son,” a social media user said.
Davido’s close friend and Nigerian blogger Tunde Ednut uploaded a picture of him and Chioma, emphasizing the rings on their fingers. “Wait! Can you see it?” he captioned the post with a rhetorical question and added a ring emoji.
