African music legend Sarkodie has admitted that the rapidly increasing talent on the continent is one of the things keeping him from becoming complacent.

He performed the bow with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra during the Afrobeats Concerto on British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Radio 1Xtra.

Eddie Kadi, Remi Burgz, and DJ Edu served as hosts for the celebration, which was organized to honor Radio 1Xtra’s 20 years of commitment to exposing Black music and culture.

Kadi engaged Ghanaian rapper and businessman Sarkodie on his impressions about the next generation of “young talented African artistes coming out of the continent, particularly Ghana, your homeland.”

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SarkCess Music responded, “It’s beautiful, I love it.

“It puts me on my toes,” adding “and at the same time I have hope that what we built is going to be protected and it’s going to be there for a minute. So I am super proud to see all these superstars, I know that even when I retire, Afrobeats is going to be alive. So big shouts to (all), especially the superstars coming out from my hometown GH [alias] Ghana.”

For his concert, the 37-year-old father of two played his hits from Lucky, Rollies and Cigars, and Labadi.

Before performing with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra in “Rollies and Cigars,” the two-time BET Award winner had said, “I love Afrobeats. Afrobeats is the biggest genre out there right now.”

He was dubbed a pioneer of the global Afrobeats craze by renowned British DJ Tim Westwood.

He received the “Artiste of the Decade” award at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

He won the inaugural Best International Flow award given by Black Entertainment Television (BET) in the same year.

Sarkodie, real name Michael Owusu Addo, has released the 10-track album “Jamz.” Some of the top Afrobeats artists are represented in it, including Black Sherif, Joeboy, Oxlade, King Promise, BNXN, and Lojay.

For almost 20 years, Sarkodie has been a working professional rapper. He is the most honoured rapper in Africa.
