Ghanaian music fans have received an apology from Nigerian musician, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid for his absence at his live concert in Ghana on December 10.

At the Accra Sports Stadium, where the event was held, some music enthusiasts waited for the Afrobeat star to play for several hours on Saturday night, but he didn’t show up.

Organisers claimed that Wizkid had broken his contractual duty to perform in a statement.

Wizkid, however, claims that he chose not to perform in order to safeguard his reputation.

He gave safety and production concerns as the main factors in his decision in a tweet on Sunday night, saying that they would have prohibited him from putting on a high-quality performance.

He kept promising the audience that his team will soon be introducing a new show.

Fans responded to the apology in a variety of ways. Some asked Wizkid what prevented him from making such a declaration prior to the concert so they wouldn’t waste their time and energy going.

On Sunday, December 10, 2022, the Nigerian artist was scheduled to take the stage for a live concert in Ghana’s Accra Sports Stadium.

The afrobeat musician, however, steadfastly declined to attend the performance despite the overwhelming fan attendance. Most of his supporters were disappointed by this.

However, Live Hub Entertainment, the event’s organizers, said in a statement that the singer had broken a contract by skipping the concert.

Customers of Live Hub Entertainment were promised a complete fee refund.
