The Minister of Communication and Digitalization, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has said that the Ministry would not extend the deadline for the countrywide SIM card registration procedure.
She stated that subscribers and users of mobile phones in the nation had been given sufficient time to register their SIM cards. “There is no way we are going to extend the deadline again,” she asserted. The minister also explained that the SIM card registration was necessary as it would aid the country’s efforts to combat cyber criminality.
Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful issued the warning at the Ahafo Regional celebration of the Girls-in-ICT Initiative, which was held at Acherensua in the Asutifi South District on the theme “Access and Safety.”
The Girls-in-ICT project is one of the Ministry of Communication and Digitalisation’s major programs, with the goal of promoting and empowering girls and young women to pursue courses and professions in ICT, allowing them to realize the advantages of increased female engagement in the field.
