The complete results of 518 applicants who took the West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in 2022 have been cancelled for bringing mobile phones into the exam.
The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has rejected 3,845 applicants’ subject results for bringing foreign materials into the exam room.
A total of 422,883 applicants—203,753 men and 219,130 women—from 977 schools registered to take the test.
This figure is 5.25 percent less than the 446,352 entry figure from 2021. The WAEC announcement also noted that 2,818 (0.67%) of the candidates who registered for the exam were not present.
The provisional results for candidates who took the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2022 examination were issued by the West African Examinations Council.
According to a statement released by WAEC on Thursday morning, the Council has made the results available online. Candidates who wish to do so may access their results via the Council’s website, www.waecgh.org.
“Following a request from the Ghana Education Service (GES), the results of 8,486 candidates who failed to return learning support materials supplied to them and/or destroyed school property cannot be accessed online at the Council’s website.
“The affected candidates are advised to visit their schools for their results,” the statement added.
