Some level 400 students of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) who were protesting inconsistencies in their results were dispersed by police using tear gas.
The students claim that the school has not updated their portal-based academic records.
According to the students, the academic results posted on the school notice board differ from those that have been published to their site.
Since they are unable to track their academic records, they have accused the administration of a premeditated attempt to fail them.
The university’s graduation ceremony is scheduled for three weeks from now, but the students claim they want to know their actual grades before vacation.
Some students are seen blocking roadways with tree branches to prevent cars from entering the university.
The final year students were supposed to meet with management to discuss their concerns, but this did not occur, which led to the students going on the rampage.
This interfered with various administrative tasks as well as lectures. Authorities at the school then requested police assistance, which resulted in the use of tear gas.
