On Friday, 24 hours prior to the scheduled date of October 29, commuters nationwide awoke to an increase in transportation costs.

The move is consistent with the GPRTU’s (Ghana Private Road Transport Union) decision to raise prices in response to hardship.

The dramatic increase in fuel prices over the past six months has angered drivers, who have promised to pass part of the expense onto consumers.

To let passengers know about the revised bus fares, fresh lists have been put at strategic locations at some bus terminals in Accra.

The raise comes at a time when many Ghanaians are already experiencing the worst of the country’s difficulties.

Many people are pleading with the government to take action right away to ease their suffering.
