The Professional Glaziers Association of Ghana has issued a notice to lock up shops in response to what they claim as ongoing exorbitant pricing increases for basic materials.
They claim that the cost of raw goods, including glassware, is rising constantly.
Materials that were first sold for 480 cedis are now costing 1000 cedis, which has an impact on business expansion.
The red-clad aluminium glaziers screamed their displeasure at the oppressive working conditions.
Gabriel Osei Owusu, a member of the Association, claimed that the cost of glasses had skyrocketed.
He claims that their companies are in danger of failing. All 21 of the production’s raw materials, he claimed, have been impacted by the price increase.
They are no longer able to work with client estimations.
The association’s chairman said they have stopped purchasing raw materials for manufacture until the situation gets better.
A few irate members vented their resentment on wholesalers and importers over the ongoing price increases.
