Twitter is reportedly planning to charge corporations $1,000 per month to maintain their gold verification check as part of its latest revenue-generating strategy.

The new fee was initially made public by social media expert Matt Navarra, who also provided pictures supposedly showing Twitter employees charging the fee to companies wishing to become “Verified Organizations.”

The Information corroborated the news on Friday, noting that it is still unknown when the modification would go into effect and when companies that don’t pay will lose their gold checks.

Right now, Twitter gives verified businesses gold checks and gives them the option to add a tiny, hyperlinked version of their logo next to the gold check of other pages connected to their business. The SportsCenter account, which has a small ESPN logo next to its name, serves as a current illustration.

Twitter intends to charge $50 each for the associated accounts in addition to the $1,000 monthly fee for a business account, according to Erin Woo of The Information.

The service is known as Verified Organizations, according to the screenshots given by Navarra, and the Twitter Business account initially promoted it in January along with an application for early access.

The message quoted by Navarra indicates that in addition to the gold check, the program will also offer “Tweet Boosting, which will boost the reach and distribution for your organization and its affiliates whenever you tweet.”

The latest payment option to be added to Twitter after the controversial Twitter Blue subscription service’s launch has been the new plan. Shortly after the service’s launch, it was suspended owing to the growth of impostor accounts that came with the new $8 per month blue checks.

The gold checks were initially presented in December as an additional layer of differentiation between verified firms and people who had simply paid $8 for the blue check. Additionally, Musk promoted a subscription service for Twitter last month that would let users visit the website without being interrupted by advertisements.

Other Twitter services have had a busy week after Elon Musk proposed proposals to tax automated account owners at least $100 monthly to reduce the impact of “bad bots.”

A request for comment from Twitter did not immediately receive a response. In response to a question about verification, Musk stated on Friday that the “legacy” verification tag currently applied to accounts that were verified prior to the launch of Twitter Blue will be removed in the near future.

  1. I have noticed that clever real estate agents just about everywhere are starting to warm up to FSBO Marketing. They are recognizing that it’s more than simply placing a sign post in the front yard. It’s really about building human relationships with these dealers who at some time will become consumers. So, whenever you give your time and effort to serving these traders go it alone : the “Law of Reciprocity” kicks in. Good blog post.
