Family heads are starting to avoid the duty of paying for a casket when a relative passes away as costs for commodities continue to soar. They are currently looking into further options to reduce the price of funerals.

A family head of a deceased person in the Ashanti Region expressed his annoyance over how the price increase is negatively affecting his family.

In an interview with Unique News, he bemoaned, “I will discuss with my family to adopt the Muslim method. We would get a metal coffin that can be reused whenever a family member dies because I bought one recently at GH¢1,200, but it is GH¢3,000 today.”

When questioned about the backup plan in the event that his family rejects his suggestion, he responded, “then they will have to save about GH¢4,000 for the coffin before they die.

“But if you don’t have that money, we will use what we have for your burial.”

Because the cost of raw materials climbed last week, casket retailers and manufacturers raised their rates. The manufacturers complain that they are dissatisfied with the high costs of important materials such as fillers, nails, pine, saw, and fabrics for coffin lining.

Manufacturers are being forced to raise the price of caskets in order to stay in business due to the increased production costs.

Local businesses are on the verge of bankruptcy as a result of the high rate of inflation and rising fuel and utility prices.

  2. This design is incredible! You certainly know how to keep a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Fantastic job. I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
