Since it was revealed that Qatar would be the nation selected to host the 2022 World Cup, there have been innumerable reports and remarks from celebrities criticizing FIFA’s decision and accusing the group of prioritizing their own financial gain over human rights.

Despite Qatar’s norms and legislation, certain soccer players have already declared on numerous occasions that they will wear the rainbow flag armband in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community during their participation in the 2022 World Cup.

The World Cup ambassador, Kahlid Salman, had to bargain not just with the athletes but also with the musicians that Qatar wanted to feature at their opening ceremony.

It has not been simple to locate vocalists who are eager to visit the nation and perform.

Pop superstar, Dua Lipa is one of the most well-known musicians to have declined to participate in the World Cup. The singer has said that since she had already made up her mind, she had never needed to negotiate.

“I will be cheering England on from afar and I look forward to visiting Qatar when it has fulfilled all the human rights pledges it made when it won the right to host the World Cup. One Love, Dua,” clarified Dua Lipa.

Shakira is another musician that has been in the spotlight for a while.

The artist’s latest single, on which she includes a few words in honour of Gerard Pique, has dramatically increased the popularity of her music.

Rod Stewart was another potential performer, but the musician recently disclosed his reasons for turning down the rich offer.

“They offered me a huge amount of money, over a million dollars for the performance, but I turned it down because I don’t think it’s right to go to a country with those ideas and values. I also think the Iranians should also stop supplying them with weapons,” Stewart revealed.

The artists who have agreed to perform in Qatar namely are: J. Balvin, Robbie Williams, Jason Derulo, Clean Bandit, Sean Paul, Nora Fatehi, Black Eyed Peas, Jungkook of BTS and Nicki Minaj, Maluma and Myriam Fares.

The latter three have been placed in charge of creating the official song for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
