I walked seductively to my seat, grinning ear to ear. Undeniably, I loved the attention.
The rest of the night went on smoothly with good food and good wine. Everyone seemed happy. There were a few conversations here and there and that was it. I got to know his name. Tyrone. I munched on the seafood mostly while stealing glances at how gentlemanly Tyrone ate. He was indeed an art specially designed by the Creator Himself. His jawline was just perfect even when chewing.
The dinner came to an end, but not without me getting tipsy. I guess I had it coming. Walking to the car in those long heels now turned difficult. So I did what any lady would do. Take those things off.
I still couldn’t balance myself as everywhere looked slanted. Even People.
“Do you mind if I carry you”, Tyrone’s voice trailed behind me.
“Hubby!!!! She can clearly walk on her own”, Opeibea’s scream came in. Perhaps she realized how loud she shouted in such an environment, she lowered her voice immediately and in a hushed tone, she continued.
“You don’t need to carry this grown woman. She is perfectly fine”.
Tyrone began to lose his grip on my hand so I had to act fast. I “mistakenly” tripped and almost fell over and that was enough. Mr. Knight in Shining Armour paid heed to no one’s stares and carried me in grand style.
Everyone looked on, shocked.
And I was no exception. Yes, I planned this but I did not plan how I’d feel. I wrapped my arms around his neck and giggled. His breath on my face was another touchpoint we have to discuss another day.
Who would have thought I could get this close to him? I was enjoying every tiny bit of it. Ask me where my shame was, I don’t even know. I tilted my head slightly just to meet mum’s disgusted look. I cowered in fear and hid my face in his shirt. I knew what was coming next.
