Remember being penalized for being late just because there was a massive traffic jam on your way to work? A situation anyone in Ghana can relate to. Lateness at times is inevitable. It’s like a sweet poison that slowly kills any effort to appear at an event early.
Although we sometimes try to get everything on point and make it as early as possible to events and duty calls, the little things such as going back to ensure all doors are locked or searching and turning the entire room upside down for just one little but necessary item can change the whole narrative.
In spite of all this, almost everyone gets to the peak of it and realizes a change needs to occur as soon as possible to prevent further effects. Being punctual makes you confident and ever ready anywhere you go. Here are some tips to adopt if you are aiming at punctuality.
Stay Organised
Keeping your things in an orderly fashion helps you stay on time. You don’t get delayed because you can’t find the other pair of socks in a heap of clothes, scattered around the room. Try to arrange the items in the room in places you can quickly remember when the need for them arises.
Set Alarms
Make it a habit to set alarms especially if you are someone who loves sleep so much. We admit waking up on a cold morning can be as depressing as it sounds, but you gotta make it on time to wherever you are going. Hence set alarms at least 10 -15 minutes ahead of time and discipline yourself to stick to it.
Keep A To-Do List
Penning down activities to be accomplished before you step out also helps you keep track of time. Once you know what you are doing, you don’t go lazing about. You do what you are expected to do at the stipulated time assigned to the chores.
Reduce Screen Time
Modern days have seen many people, spending so much time on technological gadgets even when there’s so much to do. It develops into an addiction with time. James encountered how he could spend most of his day scrolling through social media and wasting it away while he could have done a lot in that time. Limiting screen time gives us more time to do what is needed ahead of time before we step out.
Remember to keep up with the standards you have set and avoid procrastination. Staying punctual is not about just being on time, It’s basically about respecting your own commitments.
