The sombre song sees Black Sherif grappling with the death of a lover as he expresses his grief while also finding acceptance and mourning a loved one.

The video, directed by David Nicol-Sey, tells the story of a young man experiencing the pain of lost first love.

The ‘Oh Paradise’ video caps a breakout year for Black Sherif, cementing his status as one of Africa’s most compelling new voices.

‘The Villain I Never Was’ has been an unqualified success, amassing massive global streams that made Black Sherif the most streamed Ghanaian artist of 2022 on Spotify and the top streamed act of the year on the African streaming platform Boomplay, with over a billion total streams across all platforms.
