In the Western region of Ghana, Awulae Agyefi Kwame, the Paramount Chief of Nsein Traditional Area, has expressed strong criticism of the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration for the dire condition of the region’s road network. He specifically drew attention to the persistent challenges faced by the Takoradi to Agona-Nkwanta road, which is plagued by frequent disruptions due to its deteriorating state.
Awulae Agyefi Kwame underscored the fact that the Western Region has not witnessed the promised improvements under the Four-more-for-Nana initiative. It appears that the current administration has allowed the road infrastructure in the region to degrade to an unprecedented extent.
He remarked, “When you drive on the Agona Nkwanta road in the Western region, it’s evident how extensively deteriorated they are. One might wonder if these are the same roads that Akufo-Addo intends to utilize for his political campaigns. In all honesty, the roads in the Western region have significantly deteriorated during the tenure of the NPP government. It’s safe to say that the ‘four more for Nana’ initiative has had detrimental consequences for the Western region. Given the significant mineral resources in this region, this should not be our predicament.”
Awulae Agyefi Kwame stressed the urgency of the Western region’s concerns being acknowledged by the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo and Bawumia. He cautioned that if the issue remains unaddressed, the region’s road infrastructure faces an imminent risk of complete degradation.
He emphasized, “The voice of the Western region has been largely unheard during the tenure of the Nana Akufo-Addo and Bawumia government, and it is imperative that we raise our concerns. Failure to do so may result in the complete deterioration of all our roads.”
