Elon Musk has accused Twitter of actively fighting his access to information on fraudulent accounts on the social media network, as well as breaking the terms of their $44 billion sale deal.

In a letter to Twitter prepared by his legal team, the world’s wealthiest man reaffirmed his worries that prompted him to halt his offer for Twitter a few weeks ago, stating that Twitter was failing to comply with his request for any data he deems important to the acquisition.

Mr. Musk now feels that Twitter is “transparently refusing to comply” with the parameters they agreed to, raising the possibility that the firm is withholding the requested data out of fear of what the Tesla CEO’s own examination of the data may reveal.

According to Twitter’s own estimations, the amount of spam accounts is about 5% or less, but Musk has been demanding data to verify the real figure but the social media giant says it cannot release that data.

A request for comment from The Washington Post was not immediately returned by Twitter. However, Twitter’s stock has dropped 5%, while Tesla’s stock has increased by 1.5 per cent.
