Samuel Eto’o has gained attention after being caught on camera in Qatar kicking an Algerian YouTuber in the face.
The incident took place outside Stadium 974 on Monday after Brazil defeated South Korea in the round of 16.
When some supporters approached Eto’o for a selfie as he was leaving the stadium, he gladly complied.
Said Mamouni, the attack victim, also spoke to the legendary Cameroonian while being recorded on camera.
It was difficult to hear what the Algerian YouTuber said, but it seemed to annoy Eto’o, who went after him and kneed him in the face.
Mamouni has now acknowledged that he questioned Eto’o about whether the referee who presided over Algeria vs. Cameroon’s World Cup semifinal match had been bought.
In addition, he disclosed that after his camera was damaged during the event, he had reported it to the Qatari Police.
“I’m at the police station to file a complaint against Eto’o, he hit me and someone else with him pushed me and destroyed my camera,” said Mamouni.
“I asked him how is Bakary Gassama [African World Cup playoff referee], and if he gave him a bribe, he hit me and destroyed both my camera and mic, I know I will take my rights here in Qatar as it is a state of law, he did hit me in the chest and the face and in my elbow.”
Eto’o has not yet responded to the incident in the media.
