29 protesters who used violence during the Arise Ghana demonstration on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, have been arrested by police.

According to a statement from the police service, the demonstrators’ participation in the “violent attack” on police personnel led to their arrest.

“The police have arrested 29 demonstrators for their participation in violent attacks on the police and some members of the public, including school children, during the Arise Ghana demonstration in Accra,” the statement explained.

The Ghana Police Service stated that it is investigating the video footage that is available of the incident and would not hold back in pursuing any other suspects who may have encouraged the violence.

In the interim, “the organizers of the demonstration will be arrested and put before court for the attacks and damage to public property,” the statement added.
