John Dramani Mahama, the former president of Ghana, has urged the senior national team to perform at their best during the imminent FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The former head of state has posted a message of support for the Black Stars on his Facebook page with just a few days till the competition gets underway.
Mr. Mahama said in his inspirational Facebook post on Thursday that the Black Stars had performed admirably on the international stage since the beginning of time. The Black Stars has made four appearances at the World Cup since their debut in 2006 and have only missed out once in 2018.
The former President said that the team’s “unique brand of football” has consistently astounded the world, which is why he believes in the team’s chances going into the World Cup in Qatar.
He urged Ghanaians to support the Stars by praising their recent accomplishments. The former President made these remarks a few hours after the Black Stars victory over Switzerland in their final friendly match ahead of the beginning of the competition. Many Ghanaians have expressed joy over the team’s impressive performance after scoring two goals against their Swiss opponents at the ZSC Stadium in Qatar.
The World Cup competition has always brought about buzz and excitement all over the world, with citizens supporting their respective countries. Expectations are high for the national teams, and it is no different with the Black Stars. The World Cup begins on Sunday, November 20, 2022.
