Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davis Ansah Opoku, has advised Ghanaians to purchase Dzata cement as part of efforts to expand locally-owned enterprises. This will aid Ghana in achieving its current industrialization agenda.

The parliamentarian made this statement on June 23, 2022, when the leadership of parliament visited the company’s location, On the same call, the entire leadership of parliament urged the government to disregard Ibrahim Mahama’s political affiliation and support the expansion of the business. “I have never been here before, but coming here today and seeing the work that is happening here, I am very impressed, and I think we must all support the company to grow”, Mr. Opoku said.

On the same call, the whole leadership of Parliament asked the government to support the expansion of the business notwithstanding Ibrahim Mahama’s political affiliation as the owner of a factory. They consequently promised Dzata Cement the backing of the House of Parliament to get the company to hire more Ghanaians. The leadership present included Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu, and other members of the Trade, Works, and Housing Committee of Parliament.

Ibrahim Mahama, an entrepreneur and the Chief Executive of Dzata Cement, praised the lawmakers for their support of a homegrown business like Dzata Cement. By fostering an environment that is favourable for local firms to flourish, he asked the committee to provide support to more Ghanaian entrepreneurs. He asserts that the government can accomplish this by lowering the price of electricity for industries. He stated that the company is currently mining some of the raw minerals required to create cement locally, which he claimed will significantly lower the cost of production.

“The cost of power today must be addressed so that it will not hinder the projects we want to do in the near future in Ghana. There are many prospective areas such as ore that can be explored to create thousands of jobs for Ghanaians,”  he said.
