Patricia Asiedu, also known as Nana Agradaa, has been granted bail, but her attorneys have urged the Accra Circuit Court 10 to modify those restrictions.
She was given a GH150,000 bond with three sureties, one of whom needed to have landed property to justify their surety status.
Additionally, she was instructed to leave her passport with the court registry.
But on Thursday, her attorney, Paul Asibi Abariga, asked the judge to change the terms.
He admitted to the court that it had been challenging to find government employees willing to serve as the television personality’s sureties.
Thus, the attorney requested that the court modify the requirement so that any “ordinary Ghanaian” might serve as surety for the client.
The attorney also charged the Police with impeding the execution of bail by failing to respond to documents that were submitted more than two weeks ago.
The prosecution, however, was resisted and was led by DSP Slyvester Asare.
He informed the court that Nana Agradaa had turned in the sureties’ payslips, which the Controller and Accountant General were checking.
He called for the court to uphold the terms and questioned who an average Ghanaian would be in Nana Agradaa’s lawyers’ petition.
The case is postponed until Friday, November 11, 2022, so that the bail amount can be decided.
