Social media users in Ghana are not enthusiastic about President Akufo-speech Addo’s on the health of the economy.

Many of them felt that the action, which was designed to inspire optimism and spark solidarity, rather fell short of expectations.

The current economic crisis in the nation is having a terrible effect on all sectors.

In the face of escalating hardship, spiking fuel prices, rising living expenses, and a weakening cedi, the Finance Ministry is knocking on the doors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) asking for a potential $3 billion assistance.

The President thought it was wise to have the Sunday night address for this reason.

He warned against cedi value speculation, said an IMF agreement would be reached by the end of the year, and pledged the safety of investors’ money among other things in the speech.

Social media comments, however, indicate that the general public did not agree with the message.
