In Johnny Depp’s $50 million libel case against his ex-wife Amber Heard, who testified that Depp physically and sexually attacked her on many occasions, the jury has reached a decision.
The jury has also made a decision on Heard’s $100 million lawsuit against Depp when Depp’s lawyer branded her assault charges as fake.
The verdicts are set to be read on Wednesday, June 1 inside the Virginia courtroom as the seven-person civil jury must achieve a unanimous consensus in order to obtain a verdict.
Background
Depp filed a $50 million lawsuit against his ex-wife, alleging that she libelled him in a 2018 op-ed in which she described herself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse.” After his lawyer dismissed her charges as a fraud, Heard filed a $100 million lawsuit against the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor. Each accuses the other of sabotaging their own careers.
