Following the tragic earthquake in Turkey 12 days ago, the player’s body was retrieved on Saturday morning, according to Christian Atsu’s two representatives.

Atsu was 32.

Early on Saturday morning, Nana Sechere released a statement in response to Murat Uzunmehmet’s previous confirmation earlier that day.

Around 5:00am Ghana time, Uzunmehmet, the player’s Turkish agent, first broke the news.

One of Atsu’s closest friends, Mubarak Wakaso, then sent a brief message on Twitter with the words “Rest Well.”

The player’s agent Nana Sechere, who has provided verifiable information about the player’s status in light of reports from Hatay, subsequently took action.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce to all well-wishers that sadly Christian Atsu’s body was recovered this morning,” Sechere wrote on Twitter.

“My deepest condolences go to his family and loved ones. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their prayers and support.”

“I ask that whilst we make the necessary arrangements, that everyone would please respect the privacy of the family during this very difficult time.”

This is an unfolding report and more details will follow…
