One of the most embarrassing moments you can have is removing your shoes and having everyone looking for a window to inhale fresh air from. The scent around you serves as your identity. Once someone captures the familiar smell, it tells the individual, “Oh, Mike is around.” Investing in how you smell is really worth your time and money, and your smelly shoes could be a result of many things.
Let That Shoe Rest (if you can help it)
Your pair of shoes could be smelly because you overuse them. Shoes do need breathing spaces as well. Showing up at every event with that same brightly-coloured pair of shoes which makes you stand out could inform us that you love those pairs a lot yet it’s indirectly telling us how you overuse the pair of shoes. Change shoes once in a while to reduce the chances of it getting smelly.
Sweaty Feet, Smelly Feet
Sweat also leads to smelly shoes. When your feet are wrapped in shoes for a long time, it gets warm and sweaty. When this occurs, you know what is next. It’s just like wearing a shirt and staying in a warm environment for an extended period of time. Surely your sweat will alter the smell of the shirt. Also, when your feet get sweaty, you invite bacteria. The bacteria thrive in such an environment and cause the shoe to smell bad. Wear a pair of socks often when you wear shoes. They can really save your ‘nose’ next time.
Even the Shoes Need Fresh Air Too
Not forgetting inadequate aeration. Like I stated earlier, shoes need breathing spaces too. Evidently, after you get back home from whichever event, you would realize the insides of the shoes are warm. It’s advisable that you air the shoes after you remove them. This helps get rid of bad smells and replaces them with a cool feel.
The Magic of Baking Soda
Baking soda, although seen as a basic kitchen product, is able to work wonders outside the kitchen. The baking soda can absorb the foul smell emanating from the shoes and replace it with a fresher and cleaner smell. Sprinkle a considerate amount of baking soda into your shoes and allow it to sit for a day. It’s very efficient in removing all kinds of odours.
Vinegar Does More Than Think
Vinegar can be utilized for this same purpose. You could mix it with an even amount of water and spray the insides of the shoes. It neutralizes the bad smell in the shoes.
Nobody likes smelly shoes. Well, except for dogs maybe but I’m sure you’re not enthused by dogs being in love with your shoes. Let the insides of your shoes speak positively about you.
