Are suede shoes better than leather? The answer is dicey as there are times and seasons where one overshadows the other. Suede shoes are produced using the interior of a hide, mostly from the lamb, hence it’s more delicate when compared to leather shoes which can withstand most environmental conditions.

Additionally, maintaining a suede shoe can be made easy or difficult depending on what you use. Admittedly, the softer feel it gives off, compared to the regular leather shoes, screams extra attention and patience. They are more prone to damage therefore, these tools and techniques can help yours last longer.

Suede Brush

A suede brush can be used to tackle the marks and scuffs. While walking, you can have light accidents such as being stepped on or missing a step and dirtying your suede shoes. In such a case you can use the brush to gently rub the surface where stained to get rid of any dirt.

Eraser

The suede eraser is also a good option when dealing with stubborn dirt and perhaps, scratches. This also requires gentleness and patience. Too much pressure on suede scuffs it. So gently rub it till you acquire desired results. To make it faster, the eraser can go hand in hand with the brush.

Spray

There’s also the suede spray. An option mostly opted for. Spraying your suede shoes regularly (at least once a week) gives them that new look and makes you look smart. Avoid using polish meant for leather for suede as it damages the material. A day before you step out for that event, apply the spray over the shoe’s surface and allow it to dry naturally.

When Wet…

Again, when the shoe gets wet, allow it to dry naturally and brush off any dirt left behind. If it’s greased up, corn starch or baby powder should do the trick. Apply the corn starch or powder over the grease for an amount of time and gently brush it off you can repeat the process till you can hardly see the stains.
