Popular Ghanaian Tiktok star, Asantewaa also known in private life as Martina Dwamena, has advised artistes to utilise the trendy app when promoting their music.
Having garnered close to 2 million followers on the TikTok app with loads of promotional ambassadorial deals to her brand, she stated that TikTok was currently the most popular app and entreated the musicians to make good use of it.
Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz on Saturday, she said: “It doesn’t matter how long you’ve played your music game. Nowadays, after dropping your song, you have to bring it to us, otherwise, you will sing the song to yourself.”
She explained that Tiktok had become the new trend, filled with many business opportunities and encouraged musicians in the country to contact TikTokers to help promote their songs as it was the only way it would reach the masses. But some others have disagreed with Asantewaa’s assertion of the app for music promotion.
TikTok, however, has also tremendously contributed to the success of a lot of artistes’ songs like “Touch It”, by Ghanaian musician, Kidi. A song that has now gained him his first platinum record.
Another notable example is singer and songwriter, Gyakie, who recently spoke highly of how TikTok contributed massively to the success of her song, “Forever”.
Considering how efficient these trends tend to become, most artistes will keep patronizing it until it eventually becomes outdated.
