Meek Mill is getting ready to release new music after recently splitting relations with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Management, which had been in charge of the Philadelphia rapper’s career since 2012.
Meek took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce his intention to release “10 tapes independently” starting in September, with some new music arriving on August 18, which is the anniversary of Meek Mill’s father’s death.
“10 tapes independently starting September. New Music dropping August 18 the day my dad died is when I start wylinnnnnnn again! I’m not dropping albums on Friday either!”

The announcement comes shortly after Meek parted ways with Roc Nation, where he had a 2012 management contract. On Twitter, he responded to the revelation, saying that while he is still connected to the Roc family, he is “personally handling” his own business.
“All I seen today was Meek and Roc part ways”, Mill wrote. “I’m personally handling my own business so I can take risk and grow. We came to that agreement together. I have a label deal with Roc for my artist and I got reform super tied with them and many other investments with jigga”
The rapper added, “And Roc Nation is my family don’t mix my post aimed at Atlantic mixed up with Roc or MMG. They ain’t stop nothing I’m doing we made about a 100m together des mike and Hov saved my life b4 and put a lot of energy into it I’m not behind on my favours in life with my people I’m good”
