Young Ghanaian artist, Black Sherif, reportedly turned down £10,000 from the “Ghana Party in the Park” organisers and requested £50,000.

Many people were thrilled to see Black Sherif or “Kwaku Killer”, as he is affectionately known, take the stage in the United Kingdom (UK) for the first time in the history of the highly anticipated concert after the organisers announced that he would be performing at the event.

Many Ghanaian musicians flocked to the stage in the UK for the event, which took place on July 16, 2022, to delight many Ghanaians residing there with some sultry sounds from the homeland.

Musicians like Gyakie and Camidoh, to name a couple, delighted UK listeners with their popular songs. After the performance, fans began to wonder about the whereabouts of Black Sherif as he hadn’t shown up.

According to the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) PRO, Robert Klah, Black Sherif, the recipient of the VGMA23 “Best New Artiste of the Year” package, was scheduled to perform at the #GhanaPartyInThePark per the terms of the contract between VGMA and Akwaaba UK.

Even though, they were already in UK, Mr. Klah lamented that it could not happen as Black Sherif’s crew felt the timing was off.

“As part of the VGMA “Best New Artiste of the Year” package, the Ghanaian trap star was supposed to perform at the #GhanaPartyInThePark. Unfortunately, that couldn’t happen because the timing wasn’t favourable for Blacko’s team”, VGMA PRO, Robert Klah said.

According to insider accounts, Black Sherif was not scheduled to play at the event because his team wanted significantly more money from the organisers. In a tweet sent by Hitz FM’s verified account, it was written: “According to an anonymous source [a member of the Akwaaba UK group], the group proposed an amount of £10,000 (GHS 97,786) as Black Sherif’s performance fee for the Ghana Party in the Park event. However, Blacko’s team was demanding £50,000 (GHS 489,387). #DaybreakHitz”.

The allegation has since stirred massive reactions and debates on the internet.
