Jeffrey Schlupp of Crystal Palace, Felix Afena-Gyan of Cremona, and Majeed Ashimeru of Anderlecht are the newest players to be cut from Otto Addo’s 26-man roster for the FIFA World Cup 2022.
The head coach of the Black Stars personally called the three to inform them.
Joseph Paintsil’s exclusion was also verified earlier on Tuesday.
Although Addo has not yet formally unveiled his World Cup roster, he is personally calling players to let them know whether they have made the team or not.
While Addo apparently informed Schlupp that he hadn’t seen him closely enough to consider him for the team, Paintsil and Ashimeru reportedly were told that other players were thought to be better than them in their respective positions.
Ghana will start training on November 11, 2022, in Abu Dhabi. On November 17, they will play Switzerland in a friendly international match in the capital of the United Arab Emirates before departing for Qatar.
Along with Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay, Ghana is grouped in Group H.
